Hi, my name is Nugget and I would like to tell you a little about myself. I don't recall the beginning of my life, except that I was homeless and running the streets looking for food and a place to lie down when I would get tired. People would throw me scraps of food and tell me to go home. What they didn't realize was, I had NO home! One day someone decided to turn me in to the animal shelter. When we arrived at the shelter, it was crowded with people looking to adopt a pet. I figured this was going to be easy. I'll be good and look my best and for sure someone will take me home before I get checked in. Unfortunately, nobody seemed to notice me sitting there.
Suddenly, a couple walked in and stood in line. The woman glanced over at me and I was already looking at her, but she looked away. A few minutes went by and I was still staring at her. Suddenly, she looked at me again and said something to the person holding me on the leash. He must have told her that I did not belong to him and he was turning me in. She immediately got down on her knees and called me over to her. I was so excited, I couldn't get to her fast enough. As she reached out I jumped into her arms and she gave me a big hug. At that moment I was the happiest puppy in the world. I knew I just found my new family. She motioned to her husband and said we do not have to look any further. This is the pet for us. He smiled back at her and said, you want a puppy! I knew at that moment, everything was going to be OK. She kissed the top of my head and replied yes this puppy has chosen us to take care of him. Well, the rest is history.
I am now just over one year old and enjoy all the good things life has to offer. Play, play and more play! I have a brother named Kaino, an adopted greyhound, who is three years old and we love to play together. Kaino loves to run around the yard and occasionally he lets me catch up to him. I guess he likes to make me feel good.
My story has a happy ending I was one of the lucky ones. You must remember to spay and neuter your pets so no animals are born to a life of abandonment.
Don't forget to stop by again to meet other special pet's!
